For this price, I would expect more features (a timer for example, perhaps a cook-to temperature probe) A very good looking machine with bare minimum features. Good if youve got money to burn! Haha

is there even a difference between an expensive slow cooker such as this Breville and a cheaper one like crockpot or Hamilton Beach?

I don't think so outside of the sheer size of this one (I have a 7 quart one myself that I only paid $30 for, though).

At this price I would be more inclined to spend a little extra for an Instant Pot or other electric pressure/slow cooker. There's a massive bump in features that way.
